Hex-based deck-building sci-fi adventure game
Clonizer is a premium strategy game by developer Juicy Plume. It is a sci-fi-themed roguelike adventure in the vastness of space. In it, players will explore various systems across the galaxy armed with advanced tech that lets them create clones to help terraform and colonize each planet they visit.
Similar to games like Bioprototype or As We Descend, the core gameplay in Clonizer revolves around deck-building mechanics to perform actions and fight during combat encounters. Players will be able to collect a wide variety of cards to create the perfect deck to deal with different situations and battles.
Clone and conquer
This game is a sci-fi space adventure wherein you will be taking on various missions to visit and explore planets all over the galaxy to complete specific objectives as an employee of CLONPO. To help you perform your task, you will be equipped with the Clonizer, a contraption that lets you create copies of yourself called Clonees to do different jobs.
The gameplay happens on a hex-based grid wherein you can place Clonees on specific tiles, who will explore, expand their controlled areas, construct buildings, and fight aliens in their path. Each planet hosts a unique set of enemies and tiles that alter the conditions in various ways, and it's up to you to build the ideal deck with the cards you collect and craft using blueprints to deal with them.
Your journey takes place in a procedurally generated galaxy with diverging paths to take as you choose. Encounter strange and unique events as you travel along and trade with shopkeepers for rare cards and items. Do note that the pacing of the gameplay in Clonizer will be too slow for some who want a more fast-paced experience. Also, the game could use more content to keep things fun and interesting.
Charming and quirky
All in all, Clonizer is a fun space adventure that features charming characters, a procedurally generated galaxy, and gameplay with some tactical depth as you try to colonize each planet you visit using a well-crafted deck of cards. The pacing can be slow at times, but it is an engaging experience overall. Check it out and experience it for yourself.
